This Directory includes Faculty, Staff, Students, and Alumni selectable by category, search or alphabetical by last name. Over 110 students have graduated from the Department of Biomedical Informatics (25+ PhD, 50+ MS, 25+ Certificate). The diversity of careers available to DBMI alumnus is evident in their biographies. Many of our graduates are teaching and performing research in academic institutions, such as Vanderbilt University, Arizona State University, and New York University while others have entered private industry with companies such as Cerner Corporation and Boston Scientific; some have positions in government agencies, such as the NIH and AHRQ, while others are at major medical centers, serving in roles such as Chief Medical Information Officer. Francesmary Modugno
Biography
Dr. Modugno co-leads the Pittsburgh site for the RPCI/UPCI Ovarian Cancer SPORE. In addition, she oversees the Developmental Research and Career Enhancement Programs which provide seed funding for new project development. http://upci.upmc.edu/spore/ovarian/
Dr. Modugno is the Program Director for the Gynecologic Oncology Biospecimen and Data Bank. The repository collects, processes, banks and disburses tissue and biospecimens (blood, urine, ascites, etc) on women with suspected gynecologic malignancies as well as on healthy women. Resources of the repository are available to researchers interested in gynecologic oncology or related research. The repository also serves as a core facility for the RPCI-UPCI Ovarian Cancer SPORE.
Dr. Modugno is an active member of the Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium (OCAC). The consortium makes available to members and their colleagues the data an biospecimens from dozens of ovarian cancer studies throughout the world. http://apps.ccge.medschl.cam.ac.uk/consortia/ocac//index.html.
